It is the desire of the Lebanon Historical Society to bring the history of the Lebanon Illinois area to all who wish to understand it. Our crown jewel is the Mermaid House Inn.
In 2019 a photographer and a technician entered the Mermaid House with the express desire of capturing it for a “walk-through” online display. This is the result of their work.
Note that if you have a touch screen on your device, movement through the house is as simple as touch-turning in the direction that you wish to go, then clicking on the way ahead.
If you are using a mouse to control your movement, response will vary depending on the software you are using to view the page. Try to click, hold and drag to move around the different rooms.
As you look around, points of interest will appear in the scene. Mousing over will show a popup with information. If you click on the location, you will be taken to a better view of that item.
Additional selectors will appear in the bottom left corner for you to choose which floor, a “doll house” view, a floor plan, and a “measurement mode”.
We welcome you to Mermaid House, and invite you to look around. This program is impressive and well done. Remember though, that there is nothing like seeing the real thing – in person.
